Mushfiqur Rahim struck a magnificent ton to become Bangladesh's outright leading Test century-scorer, surpassing Mominul Haque's record of 13 as the hosts reached 331 for six in their second innings at tea on day three of the second and final Test against Pakistan in Sylhet on Monday.
Mushfiq, 39, reached his 14th Test hundred off 178 balls with a boundary off Mohammad Abbas, moving clear of Mominul who had missed the chance to take sole ownership of the record when he was dismissed for 91 in the first Test.
It was Mushfiq's second century against Pakistan.
The veteran middle-order batter was unbeaten on 104 off 179 balls, striking nine fours and one six, with Taijul Islam on 11 as Bangladesh extended their lead to an imposing 377 runs.
Litton Kumar Das continued his outstanding series, adding 69 in the second innings before falling to Hasan Ali, caught at deep third man attempting an upper cut.
His 123-run fifth-wicket partnership with Mushfiq off 188 balls was the cornerstone of Bangladesh's commanding position.
Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto fell early in the morning session for 15, trapped leg before wicket by Khurram Shahzad, but Bangladesh added 93 runs in the first session before extending their advantage through the afternoon.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz was bowled by Shahzad for 19 before Mushfiq and Taijul stitched together an unbroken 50-run stand off 82 deliveries to close the session.
Pakistan wasted both their reviews during the afternoon session as Bangladesh tightened their grip on the match.
