Dhaka International University Organizes Three-Day’s Seminar

The Research and Publication Cell (RPC) of Dhaka International University organized a three-day’s seminar titled “Mechanics of Academic Writing and Publishing” and “Research Methods and Where and How Theories and Empirics Should Meet' recently.

The seminar aimed to enhance academic writing, research methodology, and scholarly publication skills among faculty members and students.

The sessions were conducted by AKM Ahsan Ullah, PhD, Professor of Global Migration Studies at the University of Brunei Darussalam. The program was hosted by Mili Rahman, Joint Director of the Research and Publication Cell (RPC), DIU.

Faculty members and students from the Departments of Political Science, Economics, English, Sociology, Development Studies, BBA, and Law actively participated in the seminar. The sessions focused on key aspects of academic writing, research methodologies, publication strategies, and the effective integration of theoretical frameworks with empirical research.

Among the faculty members present were Md. Fazlul Haque, Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Political Science; Shamima Akter, Assistant Professor and Acting Chairman of the Department of Economics; Arif Ahmad, Assistant Professor and Chairman of the Department of English; Nasir Ahmad, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Law; and Jamsedur Rahman, Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology.

The seminar concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony for participating faculty members and students. Certificates were distributed by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zahidul Islam, former Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ganesh Chandra Saha, Proctor and Provost Prof. Dr. Md. Sazzad Hossain, Additional Registrar and Student Welfare Advisor Prof. Mohammad Shah Alam Chowdhury, Director of the Research and Publication Cell (RPC) Shariful Alam, and Treasurer Prof. Dr. A.T.M. Mahobubur Rahaman Sharker.

The closing session was also attended by distinguished international guests Dr. Mohamed Kaisarul Haq, Adjunct Professor and Director of the Board of Governors of Spectrum International University College, Malaysia, and Dr. Farzana Nazera, PhD Programme Leader at the same institution. The organizers expressed their appreciation for their presence at the concluding session.

During the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Shariful Alam, Director of the Research and Publication Cell (RPC), emphasized the importance of academic research, scholarly publication, and interdisciplinary collaboration in higher education.

The seminar proved highly beneficial for participants by providing practical insights into academic writing, research methods, and scholarly publishing, thereby contributing to strengthening the research culture at Dhaka International University.
