People from different parts of the district gathered with various concerns, including financial hardship, medical needs, and educational challenges. The Deputy Commissioner listened attentively and took swift action to address their issues.
Struggling Father Seeks Support for Children’s Education
Jamal Uddin, a newspaper hawker, shared his concern about managing his family of five on a limited income. He feared that his children might have to discontinue their education due to financial constraints. Chattogram Deputy Commissioner assured support to ensure that his children’s education would continue uninterrupted.
Immediate Aid for Ailing Elderly Man Md. Rafique (76), a resident of Chandgaon, has been suffering from multiple health complications but was unable to afford treatment.
Moved by his condition, the Deputy Commissioner provided instant financial assistance and guided him on accessing necessary medical services.
Assistance Promised for Ailing Social Worker
Sumi Akter, a social worker who has been battling illness for a decade, requires advanced treatment abroad as advised by doctors. However, financial limitations have made it impossible. Upon learning about her situation, the Deputy Commissioner assured necessary support and instructed relevant officials to take appropriate steps.
Support for Destitute Widow Sumati Dutta, a widow from Nandankanan, is struggling to survive with her three daughters. Due to age and illness, she relies on begging for survival.
The Deputy Commissioner extended immediate assistance and assured efforts toward a long-term solution for her family.
“My Door Is Always Open” Speaking about the initiative, Deputy Commissioner Zahidul Islam Mia said, “My door is always open to everyone. Through these public hearings, I try to serve each citizen to the best of my ability. It is my duty as a public servant, and I find fulfillment in helping people.”
Deputy Commissioner’s office stated that many citizens return from these hearings with solutions or hope, reinforcing trust in public administration.
The weekly public hearing has thus become a platform not only for grievances but also for restoring faith in governance.
