Vessel carrying 34,000 tons of diesel arrives at Chattogram Port

A vessel named Shan Gang Fa Jian, carrying 34,000 tons of diesel from Malaysia, has arrived at Chattogram Port. The Chinese-flagged ship anchored at the Kutubdia channel in the Bay of Bengal on Friday night.

The information was confirmed by Chattogram Port Authority Secretary Syed Refayat Hamim. He said that the vessel departed from Malaysia on March 29 for Chattogram port. The local agent of the ship is Pride Shipping Lines.

Earlier on Friday at around 2:00 PM, another vessel named Yan Jing He, carrying 27,300 tons of diesel from Singapore, berthed at Dolphin Jetty-6 of Padma Oil Company Limited. Pride Shipping Lines also served as the local agent for this vessel.

According to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), this is the tenth diesel-carrying vessel to arrive at Chattogram Port since the outbreak of war in the Middle East. To ensure uninterrupted fuel supply, initiatives have been taken to import sufficient fuel from alternative sources outside the Middle East.

Additionally, a fresh consignment of 100,000 tons of fuel is scheduled to be loaded from Yanbu Port on April 20. Meanwhile, a total of 200,000 metric tons of fuel including delayed shipments is expected to reach Chattogram Port by the first week of May.

These fuel consignments will be transported under the supervision of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and refined at Eastern Refinery Limited.
