Singapore's Non-Resident High Commissioner Derek Loh on Monday paid a courtesy call on Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Dr Shafiqur Rahman at his Bashundara office in the capital.
Singapore High Commission Chargé d'affaires Michael Lee and Country Director for South Asia Tae Dae Ern also attended with the high commissioner, said a press release.
Opposition Leader’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem Arman, also attended the meeting. The meeting was held in a very cordial and friendly environment.
During the meeting, they also exchanged views on the country's present political and economic situation, industrial-commercial development, and different important issues including post parliament polls democratic progress, referendum and necessary state reform through implementing the July charter.
During the call on, the high commissioner praised the positive role of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami in the economic development and democratic progress of Bangladesh.
At the same time, the high commissioner also expressed hope for strengthening bilateral relations more between Bangladesh and Singapore in future, enhancing areas of cooperation and creating new potential development initiatives of both the countries.
After the meeting, both the parties agreed on democratic progress, economic prosperity of Bangladesh and enhancing mutual cooperation.
The Singapore envoy also invited the leader of the opposition to visit Singapore.
