The United Nations Country Team in Bangladesh has welcomed UN Assistant Secretary-General and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda during her official visit to Bangladesh.
She was accompanied by Regional Director of UN Women Asia and the Pacific Christine Arab, according to a Facebook post.
During the visit, UN officials reiterated their commitment to supporting Bangladesh in advancing gender equality, empowering women and girls, and eliminating all forms of gender-based violence and discrimination.
The UN delegation emphasised that building safer, healthier, and more inclusive futures for women and girls is essential to ensuring Bangladesh’s sustainable development and long-term prosperity.
The United Nations in Bangladesh also reaffirmed its continued support for national initiatives aimed at strengthening women’s rights, increasing inclusion, and creating equal opportunities across all sectors of society.
