A training workshop on "Prevention of misreporting in the media and presentation of objective news" organized by the Bangladesh Press Council with the participation of journalists from print and electronic media of Rangamati district on the occasion of the upcoming 13th National Parliament Election 2026 has been held.
Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice AKM Abdul Hakim inaugurated the training workshop organized at the conference room of the Rangamati District Commissioner at 9:30 am on Thursday (January 29).
Rahul Banik, Deputy Director of Rangamati District Information Office, delivered the welcome speech at the workshop, while Rangamati District Superintendent of Police Muhammad Abdur Rakib PPM, Additional Deputy Commissioner Alamgir Hossain spoke as special guests.
Journalists working in electronic and print media of Rangamati district participated.
Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice AKM Abdul Hakim stressed the importance of journalists knowing about the law, rights, responsibilities, and code of conduct and urged them to be aware. He also said that if journalists abide by the jurisdiction/limitations, many problems can be avoided.
In the first session of the workshop, Bangladesh Press Council Secretary (Deputy Secretary) Md. Abdus Sabur discussed the importance of adhering to the code of conduct formulated by the Press Council in disseminating objective news during the upcoming national elections.
In the second session and the speech of the chief guest, Justice AKM Abdul Hakim, Bangladesh Press Council Chairman, informed the media workers about the things to do in practicing responsible journalism in the upcoming national elections and held important discussions.
Later, at the end of the training workshop, the training workshop concluded with a question and answer session for journalists and distribution of certificates.
