The film Chirkut, set at Rajshahi University in the 1990s, will hit theatres on October 16 for Durga Puja.
Based on a true story, it explores youth, friendship, romance and campus life.
The recently released trailer has sparked audience interest, while the romantic song Preme Gelam Dube has also received a positive response, according to the filmmakers.
Produced by Film Mania, the film is written and directed by Muntasir Akib. Its cast includes Shamol Mawla, Azizun Mim, Quazi Nawshaba, Sumon Patowary and Mahira Hasan, among others. A large number of Rajshahi University students have also joined the project.
Akib said he was overwhelmed by the response to the teaser, trailer and song, adding that the film aims to help audiences experience the spirit of the 1990s rather than simply watch a story.
“Chirkut is a pure Bengali film. We want audiences to feel an entire era, and we hope the film will add to the joy of this Durga Puja,” he said.
The film is scheduled for theatrical release on October 16.
