The Leto Jatra play ‘Swami-Strir Jhogra’ (Quarrel Between Husband and Wife), written by National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, was staged in Jhenaidah as part of the Nazrul Year celebrations.
Organised by Ankur Natya Academy, the traditional folk theatre performance was held on Friday evening at the auditorium of Prantik Park in the district town.
A total of 15 regular performers took part in the production under the direction of Ankur Natya Academy General Secretary Nazim Uddin Julius and Faruk Hossain.
The performance highlighted an important aspect of Bengal’s folk culture and theatrical heritage through Nazrul’s Leto Jatra play. People from different walks of life and various parts of the town enjoyed the show.
The organisers said the play was staged to introduce the literary and cultural works of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to the younger generation and help preserve the country’s traditional folk theatre.
