Dialysis treatment services have been launched for the first time at the 250-bed Chattogram General Hospital, marking a new milestone in healthcare services for kidney patients in the region.
The service was introduced on a trial basis last Monday through the successful dialysis of a patient. The official inauguration is expected to take place next week by the Member of Parliament of Chattogram-9 constituency, Alhaj Md. Abu Sufian.
Acting Superintendent of the hospital and Associate Professor of Cardiology, Dr. Md. Ekram Hossain said the launch of dialysis services represents an important achievement for the hospital’s healthcare system.
He said that ICU patients will now be able to receive dialysis treatment at the hospital without being referred elsewhere.
He said, the initiative has been taken to reduce the long-term treatment costs for kidney patients. If adequate manpower and logistical support are ensured, the hospital will be able to expand the capacity of dialysis services in the future.
Residential Medical Officers, senior consultants, consultants, junior consultants, physicians, and nurses from different wards of the hospital were present during the occasion.
This new addition to healthcare services is being seen as a major relief for the general people of Chattogram
