Youth Arrested with One Kilogram of Ganja in Mymensingh

Police have arrested a youth along with one kilogram of ganja during an anti-narcotics drive in the Akua Dakshinpara area under Kotwali Model Police Station in Mymensingh city. The arrest was made on Wednesday night from Nazir Bari Mosque Road.

The arrested youth has been identified as Md. Rifat (26), son of Shahid Mia and Laili Akter. His permanent address is 49 Sarda Ghosh Road in Mymensingh city, police said. According to police sources, a special team of Kotwali Model Police Station conducted the operation following a tip-off. During the raid, Rifat was searched due to his suspicious behavior, and one kilogram of ganja was recovered from a polythene bag in his possession.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to his involvement in drug transportation and supply. Police believe he was present in the area with the intention of selling the recovered ganja. A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act with Kotwali Model Police Station in connection with the incident. The arrested youth will be produced before the court after completing necessary legal procedures, said the officer-in-charge of the police station.

Police also stated that regular drives against drug peddlers are ongoing across the Mymensingh metropolitan area, maintaining a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
