Shakib Khan and Purnima reunited at a special programme organised by Channel i on Saturday in Dhaka, where the former screen pair reflected on their shared film career and exchanged light-hearted remarks during a warm reunion.
The two stars, who were among the most popular on-screen couples in Bangladeshi cinema, met after a long period away from the spotlight together. Their appearance quickly attracted attention from fans and generated discussion on social media.
During the conversation, Purnima praised Shakib Khan’s current appearance and said he looked younger than before.
“I think he looks much younger now than when I first knew him,” she said. “I watch all of his films. I watched ‘Toofan’ and I have seen his other films as well.”
Her comments reflected her continued interest in Shakib Khan’s career despite the pair no longer working together regularly. She also acknowledged his growing presence beyond Bangladesh’s film industry.
Purnima later joked that she would have enjoyed working with him even more had he looked the way he does today during their earlier collaborations.
“When we worked together, if we had this version of Shakib, it would have been even better,” she said.
The programme featured a relaxed and informal atmosphere. The Channel i premises were specially decorated to welcome Shakib Khan, while the popular song ‘Dushtu Kokil’ was played during the event.
Joining in the playful mood, Purnima said, “Today I will be the mischievous cuckoo. I will ask mischievous questions.”
Shakib Khan responded with a smile, saying, “Do whatever you like.”
Shakib Khan and Purnima starred together in several commercially successful films, including ‘I Love You’, ‘Maa Amar Shorgo’, ‘Tumi Koto Shundor’ and ‘Badha’. Their on-screen partnership became one of the most popular pairings in Dhallywood.
Although their careers have taken different paths over the years, their latest meeting suggested that mutual respect and friendship remain intact.
