DIU Holds Freshers’ Reception for Students of Seven Departments

Dhaka International University (DIU) organized a grand Freshers’ Reception for newly admitted students from seven academic departments on Saturday at the university’s Student-Teacher Centre (STC) Auditorium.

The event welcomed students from the Departments of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Microbiology, English, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and Law as they began their academic journey at the university.

The ceremony was presided over by Professor Dr. Zahidul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka International University. Distinguished guests included Advocate Shahed Kamal Patwary, Member of the Board of Trustees; Professor Dr. A. T. M. Mahbubur Rahman Sarkar, Treasurer of the University; Professor Dr. Ganesh Chandra Saha, Former Pro-Vice Chancellor; Professor Dr. Sazzad Hossain, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; and Professor Muhammad Shah Alam Chowdhury, Student Welfare Adviser. Deans of various faculties, chairpersons, and heads of departments were also present.

Addressing the students, the speakers warmly welcomed them to the DIU family and encouraged them to strive for academic excellence while upholding ethical values and developing leadership skills. They emphasized the importance of innovation, critical thinking, research, and active participation in co-curricular activities to prepare for future challenges and opportunities.

In his remarks, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Zahidul Islam reaffirmed the university’s commitment to quality education, research, and the overall development of students. He urged the newcomers to make the best use of the academic environment and opportunities available at the university to build successful careers and contribute positively to society.

The speakers expressed confidence that the newly admitted students would enhance the university’s reputation through their academic achievements, creativity, and sense of social responsibility.

The program was attended by a large number of faculty members, administrative officials, students, and guardians. The event concluded with a colorful cultural performance, adding a festive atmosphere to the celebration.

University authorities said the Freshers’ Reception reflected DIU’s ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive, dynamic, and student-centered learning environment for its growing academic community.
