Moroccan Ambassador Lalla Bouthaina El Kerdoudi El Koulali paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam at the ministry office in the capital on Wednesday.
The meeting reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and growing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Morocco, said a foreign ministry press release.
The State Minister welcomed the newly appointed Ambassador to Bangladesh and expressed her readiness to extend full cooperation to further enhance the existing relations between the two countries.
Both sides discussed avenues to strengthen cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, pharmaceutical, textile, jute and jute goods, maritime, shipbuilding and manpower sectors. The State Minister also emphasized the importance of increased collaboration in sports, culture, science and technology.
The Ambassador stated that Morocco sits on a strategic point for market access to Africa and Europe. She offered joint ventures between the two countries in the field of textile and pharmaceuticals and maritime. She expressed commitment to further strengthening cooperation across all sectors, including the recruitment of skilled and semi-skilled manpower.
The State Minister underscored the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts, including cultural and sports exchanges, mutual visa waiver agreement and stressed the need for regular bilateral engagements and high-level visits to further deepen the partnership.
