Md. Mohidul Islam, Additional Secretary to the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the newly appointed Chairman of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), visited Narayanganj River Port to inspect its ongoing development projects and operational facilities.
During the visit, the BIWTA Chairman inspected the Narayanganj River Port Terminal, the new terminal building under construction with World Bank financing, the under-construction shed at Machh Ghat, the Khanpur Inland Container Terminal, the Narayanganj Dredger Base, the rescue vessel Prattay, and the Department of Engineering, Planning, Training and Conservation (DEPTC).
He also inspected the navigability of the waterways, travelling from the Dredger Base along the Shitalakshya River past Shah Cement Factory to the Muktarpur Bridge area on the Dhaleshwari River.
The visit was attended by BIWTA Member (Engineering) Rokibul Islam Talukdar, Director (Administration and Human Resources) and Acting Director (Port and Traffic) Md. Saiful Islam, Chief Engineer (Civil) A. H. Md. Farhad Uzzaman, Director of the Conservancy and Pilotage Department Captain Md. Shajahan, along with officers and employees from various departments of Narayanganj River Port.
